Photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam reportedly died suddenly, as did Grant Wahl
After the death of the journalist Grant Wahl in Qatar, a second reporter died covering the World Cup. The cause of the death of Khalid al-Misslam was not released, but was described as “sudden”, just like the first one.
Qatar’s Al Kass TV said the channel “Believes in Allah’s mercy and forgiveness and sends his deepest condolences to the family.”
This is the second death of a journalist in the Middle Eastern country. In the first case, Wahl was known for trying to enter dressed in a T-shirt with an LGBTQIAP+ print in the game between the USA and Wales and being barred. In the match between Argentina and the Netherlands, he suddenly felt ill and did not survive.
Wahl’s brother, Eric Wahl, to whom the professional dedicated the fight against homophobia, claims that he was already receiving death threats and that he believes that the relative was murdered.
