Hundreds of thousands of fans found out at the Obelisk the caravan of world champions will not pass by that point in the center of Buenos Aires and there have been a few accidents.
Although the bus carrying the players and coaching staff was in principle expected to pass through the Obelisk, the AFA announced around 11am that the Security agencies decided to change the route.
As the news began to reach the fans waiting for 9 de Julio, some fans started throwing stones and shouting at the organization.
Meanwhile, thousands of others started running to the 25 de Mayo highway to see their idols.
The news circulated quickly amidst the hubbub of fans and within minutes there were thousands upon thousands of fans scurrying through 9 de Julio and the parallel streets to the south.
The fans’ goal was to arrive as soon as possible at the intersection of the 9 de Julio highway and the 25 de Mayo highway, a place from which, as confirmed by the AFA, the players and coaching staff would greet.
