After consecrating themselves in a World Cup after 36 years, the Argentina national team has returned to the country and experienced a historic welcome. Lionel Scaloni’s squad set foot in Argentina in the early hours of Tuesday morning, and from the outset summoned thousands of Argentines who would take to the streets, but the real party would come hours later. Around noon, with the team a little more rested, the delegation went out to tour the streets in a convertible bus, and more than 5 million fans attended the recognition.

The protagonists were able to feel the affection of the fans firsthand, just like during the entire World Cup there in the Middle East, although this time in much greater proportions. The footballers were the protagonists of moments to remember, many of which would have been immortalized by the thousands of cameras present on site. The truth is that some other member of the team forgot a fundamental detail to enjoy the party: nothing less than sunscreen.

This, for example, is the case with Papa Gomez. The current Sevilla midfielder was unable to play all the minutes scheduled on the eve of the World Cup, but he more than deserved his recognition, to the point of being one of the most pampered by the people. This Tuesday, Papu got on the bus and true to his style, played a leading role in the festivities, but the midfielder’s afternoon didn’t end in the best of ways, and this was reflected in a publication he made on the its social networks.

Apparently, the long hours aboard the micro convertible in the sun would take their toll on the footballers, and Gómez would be one of the hardest hit. Through his Instagram, he shared a video in which he reveals the state of his skin after spending more than four hours outdoors. The cutout shows the contrast of tones on the body of the steering wheel, burned in most of the torso, with the exception of part of the neck. Apparently, the champion’s medal was able to protect a small part of his body.

Despite the burns, Papu hasn’t lost that sense of humor that characterizes him so much, given that next to the video he wrote the following: “I need aloe vera”. And Gómez wasn’t the only one, as some postcards of Leo Messi upon his arrival in Rosario showed that the Argentina national team captain was also suffering the consequences of heatstroke. In one of the photos, Messi can be seen with a clearly red face, hinting that even the great figure of “Scaloneta” did not remember to use sunscreen.

The truth is that not even the worst heatstroke could dampen the joy of the Argentine team, which continues to celebrate three days after achieving one of the greatest feats in the history of Argentine football. Today, waiting to resolve his future in European football, Papu enjoys being in the company of his family. Through his Instagram, the midfielder not only showed how his skin turned out, but also left some postcards of the celebrations, and was even seen inside the helicopter that he transferred to the campus.
