Conmebol chose to travel to the origins of the Brazilian star while he was still alive. To the city of Três Corações, where Pelé was born on October 23, 1940. The municipality has 72,765 inhabitants and 828 km² which gave birth to one of the greatest sports personalities.

The video is called Tres Corazones (the name of Pelé’s village) and it doesn’t just show its streets; in addition, it replaces three of the five stars of the Brazilian Football Confederation shield with green hearts embroidered on the yellow chest. The Brazilian won three World Cups in Sweden 1958, Chile 1962 and Mexico 1970.

Produced by the Mercado McCann agency and sponsored by Conmebol, the commercial shows the creation of a very special shirt, in which the three conquered stars have been replaced on the shield by three hearts, alluding to the city that saw him born and where he was born come to conquer those of the whole world.

This was a proposal that Alejandro Domínguez, president of the South American organization, made in Qatar while everyone was praying for Pelé’s health.
