Nestore “Pippo” Gorosito reached an agreement on Friday evening with the top management of Gymnastics and Fencing La Plata and left his position as technical director.

The truth is that the board chaired by Mariana Cowen, winner of the club’s presidential election at the end of last November, had been working for several days on the departure of the 58-year-old coach.

It is that Pipo had renewed his contract last October until December 2023 with numbers that for the brand new Tripera management were impossible to paytaking into account not only the economic reality of the club, but of Argentine football in general.

After some negotiations that came to nothing, both parties agreed to terminate the contract early. As reported by journalist César Luis Merlo on his official Twitter account, the DT resigned part of a debt with the institution (the coaching staff hadn’t been paid since August) and agreed to a payment plan in installments.

Now all that remains is to sign the agreement before a notary, to officially cancel the contract.

Gorosito had taken over as coach of Lobo on 31 August 2021, replacing Leandro Martini and Mariano Mesera, who were fired after the goalless draw against Huracán for the ninth round of the 2021 Professional League.

In the latter local championship he had an excellent campaign even reaching the top of the table. Eventually finished ninth, a product of 11 wins, 8 draws and 8 losses. In this way they qualified for the Copa Sudamericana.
