“He was transferred to the North Hospital where he was placed in intensive care as a precaution,” said the president of Hyeres, Mourad Boudjellal, adding that his player had previously passed through a hospital in the city of Martigues, where the duel between Hyeres was played and OM.

“Let’s pray that everything goes well. He’s a good guy and one of our best elements,” added the leader.

At first, the coaching staff of the National 2 club (fourth category) was calm. “More fear than harm, nothing serious, maybe a shock,” said assistant coach Zaki Noubir.

“Bailly quickly came to our dressing room to hear from them and give them the shirt,” he added.

N’Diaye’s injury occurred in the 15th minute of the match, which Marseille won 2-0. In a counterattack by Hyeres, he was met in the chest at full speed by a vicious board kick from Bailly, who arrived late.

The Hyeres attacking midfielder was carried off on a stretcher and transferred to a parked ambulance on the sideline. Ivory Coast’s Bailly, on loan from Manchester United to Marseille, received a red card for his dangerous play.
