In the footsteps of Carlos Reutemann and closer to Formula 1: Franco Colapinto has been signed by Williams

Franco Colapinto it comes a little closer Formula 1. Is that the 19-year-old driver has announced this line that has reached an agreement with Williams Racing, one of the most traditional categories in the top category of world motorsport, and will be part of its academy starting this year.

“It’s an incredible opportunity for which I am very grateful. Thank you to all Williams for trusting me. I am looking forward and very excited to start working with this great team,” the Argentine posted on his instagram accounts.

Furthermore, the porteño has announced that he will be leaving the Van Amersfoort Racing team and that starting this season he will race with MP Motorsport. His first race will be on March 5 with the Bahrain GP.

“It is very nice to welcome Franco back to MP. He has been exceptional in his two years with us, and in the other two seasons since he switched from karting, Franco has always been among our most intimidating rivals. He now has the clout to consistently lead the campaign, and we are here to help him achieve that,” said MP Motorsport team principal Sander Dorsman, who finished fourth in the F3 Constructors’ Championship in 2022.

Colapinto had previously been part of the Dutch team during his years in Formula Renault and Formula Regional. He will share a team with Spain’s Mari Boya and Britain’s Jonny Edgar.
