Brazilian footballer Dani Alves arrested for alleged sexual assault

The Mossos d’Esquadra, the autonomous police of Catalonia, have arrested the former Barça player Dani Alves, who has been transferred to the City of Justice to testify as a suspect, for an alleged sexual assault against a woman committed in the Sutton nightclub , in the Catalan capital, on the night between 30 and 31 December.

The head of court number 15 of Barcelona opened proceedings in early January to investigate the alleged sexual assault after receiving a complaint from a woman, according to which the Brazilian footballer had touched her under her underwear, without her consent .

Sources close to the case confirmed to EFE that Alves, currently a member of the Pumas of Mexican soccer, made a statement this morning at the Mossos d’Esquadra de Les Corts police station, after which he was transferred to the city of justice to appear before to the investigating judge.
