Centre-back Rafael Varane, 29, has announced he will no longer play in the French squad, with which he became world champion in Russia 2018 and runner-up in Qatar 2022, after losing the final to Argentina.

Varane has been a point of reference for the team led by Didier Deschamps, who has made him one of his main assets, adding the 2018 World Cup and the Final Four of the League of Nations in 2021.
