In addition to Marcos Mion, only Brazilians Anderson Varejão and Oscar Schmidt participated in the game
The host Marcos Mion (43) will be present at the NBA All-Star Game, which will take place on Friday, the 17th. ESPN and the NBA (National Basketball Association) announced this Wednesday, the 8th, the list of participants for the event.
In a publication on the NBA Brazil page, Mion was very happy with the invitation: “This is one of those unattainable dreams that, suddenly, will come true”, wrote the presenter in the comments of the publication.
Mion is passionate about the sport and whenever he can, he finds time to practice the sport. The presenter even has a custom court in his backyard.
In recent days, he has been sharing some workouts on his Instagram, and promising a surprise for his followers. Mion is the first Brazilian celebrity to participate in the event.
The presenter revealed in an interview with NBA Brasil in 2020 that he never identified with football, the most popular sport in the country and that he always loved basketball.
“When I played football, I was a goalkeeper, so the ball was already in my hand. Without a doubt, basketball has always been my sport”said Mion at the time.
Attendees include actors, comedians, Grammy-winning musicians, athletes and more. The NBA is the biggest basketball league in the world.
Besides Mion, the only two Brazilians to participate in this event were two former basketball players: Anderson Varejão and Tadeu Schmidt’s brother, Oscar Schmidt. Varejão is an idol of the Cleveland Cavaliers and participated in the event in 2022.
Oscar, considered by many to be the best Brazilian player in history, participated in 2013 and in 2013, he entered the sport’s hall of fame.
There will be two teams: one will be led by Ryan Smith, owner of the Utah Jazz, and the other by Dwyane Wade, NBA champion, minority shareholder of the Utah Jazz. The Brazilian presenter is on Smith’s team.
