On one side of the pitch, two teammates, now members of the Soccer Council, were waiting for him: Mauricio Chicho Serna and Marcelo Chelo Delgado. He warmly embraced both of them, who gave him a plate and a T-shirt, both framed gifts.

“Boca Juniors Athletic Club. Recognizes Martin Palermo. For being the top scorer in the club’s history and for his career in our institution. February 19, 2023”, reads the plaque that will occupy a special place in the scorer’s corner of memories. Neither President Jorge Amor Ameal nor Vice President Juan Román Riquelme came to greet him before the meeting.
