The most violent events took place in Sao Cristobal, a neighborhood near the Maracana, where fans also attacked the police and tried to destroy one of their vehicles.

Firefighters confirmed that the two injured were taken to a nearby hospital and their situation is not known. Gloves, pieces of sticks and even a homemade bomb were seized in Madureira, another neighborhood near the iconic stadium, according to the Specialized Stadium Policing Battalion (BEPE).

The riots were not seen only in the vicinity of the Maracana, but in other places in the city.
