The shooting

The dramatic episode took place near the Eduardo Gallardón stadium of the Lomas de Zamora institute which plays in Primera B, the third division of Argentine football. Two factions exchanged gunfire as boys were leaving school, in Santa Fe and Portela.

The official part of the Buenos Aires police specified that Diego Callen, 41, denounced that three subjects “members of the faction that answers to Walter Coronel – Area engineer Budge-” beat them while he was in his vehicle.

Callen was part of a group of fans inside the club when the three men arrived to ambush them on two motorcycles and a car. At that moment the confrontation began, which coincided with the students leaving the Ejército de Los Andes school, which has an initial, primary and secondary level. Miraculously there were no students injured.

“We were all in the middle, with the kids and the cars. It was crazy,” described a witness quoted by Info Regione. “There were no less than 15, 20 shots everywhere and people running,” he added.

Part of that sequence was captured on video in which a boy is seen running down the sidewalk as gunshots are heard. Other students and parents were able to quickly enter the school to seek refuge.

Several shell casings were scattered on the streets. Upon arrival, the Police cordoned off the area and began carrying out the related investigations.
