THE Argentine artistic gymnastics is going through a historic moment. The Argentine women’s team, which is competing in Turkey, took fifth place at the Youth World Championships in the discipline and it is the best historical result for this discipline.

The Argentina team is made up of Mia Mainardi14 years old and trained in the River Plate, Isabella Aialla15 years old and whose training place is in the Circulo Gimnástico Norte, e Emilia Costa14 years old, originally from Rafaela and trained at the Crear gym.

It should be noted that the best historical ranking was a seventeenth place. exclusively with clarionMariano Pochino, Mainardi’s coach, recounted the sensations of having achieved such a goal: “It is a historic result. The best finish in a world championship was seventeenthso this fifth place is something that easily surpasses everything we expected”.

Pochini is Mainardi’s coach, Camila Soto does her duty with Isabella Ajalla, while Victor Ingaramo leads the way for Emilia Acosta. “We did a good job, but our target was to get into the top 10. We knew that Mia and Isa are two very good gymnasts and that, what’s more, they complemented each other with Emiliawho is a year younger, but who competed like the gods and, even if until recently we didn’t have that much in mind, he did his part wonderfully”Pochini explained.

But how are the gymnasts who represent the country in this type of competition chosen? The process of selective tournaments takes place in the Argentine Gymnastics Confederation, and after several tests, the representatives of the Argentina national team are determined. It is for this reason that the three young women belong to different clubs.

But beyond fifth place at team level, Mainardi and Ajalla qualified for the first time in an individual all-around final, better known as all around. Both gymnasts had this privilege for being in the top 24. Ajalla finished in twelfth place, while Mainardi three places below.

“This result fills us with pride in our work and that of our gymnasts,” said Pochini.

Finally, it should be noted that Mainardi is classified in the vault final and has the possibility of fighting for the coronation. He played his part also in the uneven bars category, but when he finished in eighth position he didn’t have a chance. “Going to the apparatus final of an individual championship and being among the top 8 gymnasts on two apparatus is historic and never achieved before”highlighted the gymnast coach River.
