The investigation

Sala was “deeply unconscious” after experiencing poisoning from inhaling toxic gases before dying from severe blows to the head and chest in a plane crash in 2019, according to a British jury on Thursday, March 17th.

Sala died when the single-engine Piper Malibu plane carrying him crashed into the English Channel.

The jury in court in Bournemouth, England, found that Sala was the passenger on the private plane with the pilot, David Ibbotson, who did not have the proper authority to fly at night.

The aircraft was damaged when it crashed into the sea. Ibbotson’s body was never found.

Pathologist Basil Purdue said “Sala lost consciousness due to severe poisoning” from building up carbon monoxide inside the cabin because the plane’s system was faulty to dissolve it.

The doctor added that the soccer player was “deeply unconscious” before the plane landed. Purdue added that Sala was still alive at the time of the impact and died from severe blows to the head and chest.

Pilot and businessman David Henderson manages the aircraft on behalf of its owner and manages its flight scheduling, piloting and maintenance, even though he is not its legal operator.

Henderson was sentenced in November to 18 months in prison. In the majority of the decision, he was found guilty of putting the safety of an aircraft at risk. He had previously pleaded guilty to another crime for attempting to remove a passenger without permission or authorization.
