Bel Polo was consecrated champion of the “Ellerstina” tournament of the Argentina Polo Tour after a heartbreaking victory in the Grand Final 12-11 against Synergy Cloning in General Rodríguez, where the Buenos Aires leg of the competition closed in front of 2,000 spectators.
The Argentina Polo Tour Tournament will soon move to Rosario, Santa Fe where the next stop will be held from May 30th to June 4th.
The competition was created in 2006 and is held every year during the autumn, on routes specifically chosen for their quality. More than 40 teams participated in this 2023 edition, with players from Argentina, Chile, the United States, Uruguay, Colombia, France, Switzerland, Austria, England, Bulgaria and Spain.
Ellerstina was the latest in a series of four polo tournaments that rotated through the different camps and clubs of the General Rodríguez and Cañuelas Party. It kicked off on 5 April and featured 12 teams with up to 20 goals, playing 6 games to date across three zones.
In the Grand Finale, Henry Lunnof the winning team, it was presented as MVP. The winning team also consisted of Edward Banner-Eve, Joaquín Pittaluga and Sebastián Merlos.
The Polo Tour has a strong impact on the value chain, as it feeds the different professionals of the polo industry: players, groomsmen, smiths, etc. More than 1,500 people work in the Polo Industry in the General Rodríguez area and the same number indirectly.
The mayor of the municipality of General Rodríguez, Mauro García, was present at the awards ceremony, together with Gonzalo Pieres, the undisputed reference of polo, and the organizer and president of the Argentina Polo Tour, Pablo Llorente.
