The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 16th (local time) that a former US Navy sergeant was involved in the secondary distribution of recently leaked US classified documents.
According to the WSJ, the ‘Donbass Devushka’ Telegram account, run by Sarah Beals, a former US Navy sergeant, played a key role in spreading documents allegedly leaked by US Air Force PFC Jack Teixeira. .
Donbas Devushka means ‘Donbas Lady’, and this is where content supporting the Russian army and Wagner’s group was uploaded.
The media went unnoticed by the general public even when Teixeira, who was arrested for leaking classified documents, first posted about 100 documents on the Discord chat room, and the story spread among ‘Milduck’ (military equipment enthusiasts) and Russian supporters in earnest. Deb pointed out that Donbass Devushka played a big role.
The Donbas Devushka account, which has about 65,000 followers, posted four classified documents that were believed to have been leaked on the 5th.
At the time, this account posted the document and wrote that it was “very interesting information” and “it cannot be confirmed whether it is true or not, but it appears to be very harmful information to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO · NATO).”
Bills was a former sergeant in the US Navy and was discharged last November. Bills claimed that an administrator other than himself had posted the document.
In an interview with the WSJ, Bills explained, “One of the 15 co-owners around the world posted the document,” and “I know the seriousness of the top-secret document, and I did not leak it.”
The Pentagon and Justice Department declined to comment on inquiries regarding Devushka in Donbass.
Earlier, on the 13th, US authorities arrested Teixeira, a member of the Massachusetts National Guard, on charges of leaking classified documents.
