The tragic fall of an Australian jockey in the middle of a race that rocked the equestrian world

The equestrian world is experiencing moments of pain. the jockey Dean Holland34-year-old Australian, died this Monday in full competition at Donald Racecourse in Australia, after falling from the horse he was riding.

The event occurred during the inaugural race of the competition which took place in the northwest of the Oceanic country, in a rural area 240 kilometers from Melbourne. Police statements classified the event as a “tragic incident”, in which attempts were made to revive Holland but were unsuccessful.

Paramedics attended to him, but sadly he died at the scene.“Victoria State Police assured in a statement.

Misfortune happened when Holland together with his colleague alana kelly they fell off their respective horses as they approached the inner rail of the arena. However, the rider as well as the two animals escaped unharmed and without injuries from the tragedy.

Given what happened, the executive director of Racing Victoria, Andrew Joneshe was injured and expressed his condolences to relatives of Holland, who was married with four children.

The deceased left a great legacy thanks to his 18-year long career in the equestrian world, maintaining in his record a total of one thousand local tournaments, adding to competitions such as the Adelaide Cup, in 2015 and 2019, as well as the Geelong (2021) and Wodonga (2022), among others.
