The second historic victory was served by an Argentine club: San Lorenzo, in 1973

The match was played at the Monumental in what was the group stage of that edition, which the Bolivians Wilstermann and Oriente Petrolero had just finished. River were in third position and therefore eliminated in the first phase, in a Libertadores in which only the first of each group progressed to the round. That will be Nuñez’s only defeat in this ranking.

The goals of the match were converted by Luciano Figueroa, with a hat-trick, and Ramón Heredia. On the millionaire side of that party were people like Norberto the betto Alonso and Enrique Wolff.

In that game that Demichelis also assisted on the pitch, but with Manuel Pellegrini As a coach, the millionaire said goodbye to the Copa Libertadores in the quarterfinals. The first leg had been in their favor with the result of 2-1 but finished with an aggregate score of 5-3 in favor of the Colombians.
