No one expected anything other than sanctions. After a boring game, without aiming for the shot, and the one between Barracas Central and Estudiantes de Caseros, the score remained unchanged, except for the last seconds in which El Guapo took a free-kick, one of those that always have Iván Tapia as executor testament and this time surprised with another: Rodrigo Insúa was the hero of the night.
“I felt confident, I practice free kicks a lot, I spoke to Iván about it and he gave it to me,” said the author of the goal and the ticket to the round of 32, which will have Boca as rivals. “We know what that means, but we also have what’s ours and we will play with confidence,” Insúa predicted.
From the party, nothing. It was pretty bad. The only thing that brought out the drowsiness happened just before the goal. It was an action that, if it had been analyzed with the VAR system -which is not used in this competition-, would have had a different resolution. Lautaro Parisi went to cut the ball, but it went straight into the ankle of Alan Cantero. The image of pop, filmed in slow motion by television, is chilling.
For that matter, only a little was hopeful. In just 20 minutes the charm of the game was condensed. Estudiantes started with a dynamic without respect for the senior category represented by Barracas which quickly faded. When El Guapo advanced his lines and forced Pincha to retreat, the game, instead of becoming spicy, became boring.
Because none of what Sergio Rondina’s team generated in attack, invigorated to beat Instituto 3-0 in the Lega Professionisti, could have any effect. Good close shots or reactions from goalkeeper Lautaro Amadé, debuting on Wednesday night. Estudiantes arrived, but with less precision than their impotent rival.
The second half saw Juan Manuel Sara’s side cautious enough to take care of what the draw gave – the chance to narrow one-on-one on penalties. Without offensive ambitions, Estudiantes defended well against Barracas who continued to have the ball, but came less than in the first. A few seconds from the goal, but after the foul on Cantero another one arrives which makes the winning free-kick possible.
