The Montreal Canadiens rose to 2-1 after two rounds against Rangers in New York, thanks to goals from Ryan Poehling and Jeff Petry.

For the second time tonight, the Canadian scored late in the period to regain the lead in their clash with the New York Rangers.

Jeff Petry actually recorded his 5th goal of the season with 9 seconds left in the middle period to allow the Canadian to return to the locker room with a goal lead, 2 to 1.

Left winger Christian Dvorak and right winger Josh Anderson were credited with assists.

The Rangers equalizer was scored by right winger Ryan Reaves in 4:14. His 5th goal of the season.

Ryan Poehling did the same thing as Petry in the first period by scoring in 18:45 to open the scoring in the game. This is the 9th goal of the season for the American center player.

Paying aids went to left winger Michael Pezzetta and defender William Lagesson.

We wondered if the Rangers would welcome Guy Lafleur’s departure from the Canadian visit. Lafleur played one season in a New York uniform.

This was mentioned before the meeting, in a very sensible way.

More details to come.
