Two days after the 122nd birthday of the clubthe doll returned home to be honored for her eight-plus-year glorious run as a coach. “I was born in this club and I think I will die in this club”expressed Gallardo, excited after discovering his statue, over eight meters and almost seven tons.
At 4.10pm Gallardo took the stage mounted on Figueroa Alcorta Avenue. Joining Gallardo were many of Madrid’s heroes, including Juanfer Quintero, Franco Armani, Milton Casco, Enzo Pérez, Matías Kranevitter, Jonatan Maidana, Nacho Fernández, Bruno Zuculini and Nicolás De La Cruz.
Former teammates such as Enzo Francescoli, who in his coaching role hired him as coach, Hernán Díaz, Marcelo Salas and their assistants Matías Biscay and Hernán Buján, his faithful sidemen, also took to the stage. And then, the president Jorge Brito and the former owner of the club, Rodolfo D’Onofrio.
