Police report brings new information about the death of former volleyball player Walewska Oliveira

The death of the former volleyball playerWalewska Oliveira moved the world of sport this week. She passed away at the age of 43 on the night of Thursday, 21, in São Paulo. Now, the police report on her death has been released and brings new information about what happened.

According to the Globo Esporte website, the State Secretariat for Public Security reported that the Police Report brought information that she fell from the 17th floor of the building where she lived in São Paulo.

The case was registered by the 78th Police District, in Jardins. The fall reportedly happened at 6:09 pm and she was found on the balcony of the first floor apartment. A rescue unit was called to provide assistance and health professionals tried to revive her, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Also according to the BO, the 17th floor of the building is a leisure area and can be accessed by residents using facial biometrics. Walewska entered the premises alone at 4:05 pm.

The police are still investigating the circumstances of the death = and the family has not yet commented on what happened.

Who was Walewska Oliveira?

Athlete Walewska Oliveira was Olympic champion in Beijing in 2008 and was a bronze medalist in Sydney in 2000. She said goodbye to the courts in 2022, when she played for the Praia Clube team. Recently, she released the book Other Networks about her trajectory and was in the publicity phase of the project.

Walewska tried out for a volleyball team at the age of 12 and went on to have a successful career. She was called up to the Brazilian Volleyball Team for the first time in 1997, by coach Bernardinho. In addition to her Olympic titles, she also won gold at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg, Canada, and won the Superliga with Praia Clube.
