Carey Price will be the starting goaltender on Friday for the Canadiens ’final game of the season against the Florida Panthers at Bell Center. This was confirmed by interim head coach Martin St-Louis after morning practice, where Price did all the introductory training.
The No. 1 CH goalkeeper has played four games – four defeats – since returning to action after a lengthy rehabilitation to treat a knee injury. He met this week in New York the doctor who operated on him in July.
Martin St-Louis would not give details about the meeting between Price and his surgeon. The organization promised to provide an update on his state of health as soon as possible.
Cayden Primeau, who was recalled from Laval Rocket to assist Samuel Montembeault, was transferred back to the American League this week to give Price space.
On defense, Chris Wideman will be included in the formation in place of William Lagesson. On the attacking side, Mathieu Perreault will replace Laurent Dauphin.
The Canadian (21-49-11) is guaranteed to finish 32nd and last in the overall NHL standings.
For their part, the Panthers (58-17-6) are the Presidents ’Trophy winners as the best team in the NHL this season.
