Independiente, leaders after winning their two initial matches as guests, will receive Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata this Saturday, in a match corresponding to the third round of Zone A of the Professional League Cup. The match will take place at the Libertadores de América-Ricardo Enrique Bochini stadium starting at 7pm, with refereeing by Sebastián Zunino, VAR by Andrés Merlos and television by TNT Sports.
Carlos Tevez’s Rojo started well and became leaders of their area thanks to victories against Independiente Rivadavia and Vélez Sarsfield, both 1-0 and away from home.
The “Reds” did not show brilliant football, but they gave the image of a compact team, solid in defense, even if with little offensive power. His two goals in the LPF Cup were the work of defenders: Ayrton Costa in Mendoza and Joaquín Laso in Amalfitani.
That Independiente are local is no small feat, given that last season it was difficult for them to play at home due to pressure from the fans.
Gimnasia, led by Leonardo Madelón, started with a great victory against Talleres in Córdoba (1-0), but suffered a harsh setback when they lost 3-2 in Bosque against Independiente Rivadavia.
