But that is not all. Because the former Atalanta player also chose the song “Look at me now”, by Myke Towers, to post on his official Instagram account, where he has 6.4 million followers. The song of the famous Puerto Rican singer has lyrics that can perfectly illustrate the moment that Papu is going through.

“I became king from birth, all these bastards like me want to be”, “the only perfect thing is God’s time” and “they want me to hurt, but it’s better this way”, are some lines told in the song.

The post in question reached 50 thousand likes and 343 comments almost a day after its publication.

The doping that puts Papu’s career in check

In October last year, Papu Gómez tested positive for doping and was suspended for two years. The substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) was terbutaline. According to the footballer, the drug was present in a pediatric cough syrup prescribed to his son and from which he sipped without considering the consequences when he was still a Sevilla player and there were a handful of weeks left before the start of Qatar 2022, where he started two times as a starter – Saudi Arabia and Australia – until an injury left him with no escape.

For a long time there was talk of a possible retirement of the Argentine, who could only return to play at 37 years old. Papu, however, seems to have turned a deaf ear to those rumors and is focusing attention on his set-up to return to the field in the best possible conditions.
