The team led by Martín Demichelis had a good start to the championship. He debuted with a 1-1 draw against Argentinos and then achieved goalless wins against Barracas Central (2-0), Vélez (5-0) and Deportivo Riestra (3-0) for the League Cup, as well to the victory against Excursionistas (3 -0) in the debut of the Argentina Cup.

The team from Tucumán, however, has not yet won in this tournament and has just lost 2-0 against Barracas Central.

Despite the different realities, the Dean’s court is one of those that costs the Millonarios: in River’s last three visits to Tucumán, between 2020 and 2023, the result has always been 1-1.

Considering the intense series of matches at the beginning of the year (7 matches in 21 days) and with an eye on the superclásico against Boca Juniors on Sunday 25 February, coach Demichelis was able to rotate the starting line-up and his “ideal” eleven tomorrow against Atlético Tucumán and on Sunday also against Banfield in Núñez.

In Dean the current situation is not the best, so the technical duo Sergio Gómez and Favio Orsi need a good result to avoid jeopardizing their continuity.

“This moment hurts me a lot because I feel football from deep inside, it hurts me because this is my job, it hurts me for all the people who are behind us, who go to the stadium and put us on the bench??, he declared the striker Marcelo Estigarribia after the defeat against Barracas on the emotional and footballing situation of Atlético Tucumán.

“We are bad. The team is suffering a lot on a mental level, do we create situations and fail to enter them? We have to change our minds, try to go back to being last year’s team”, added ‘Chelo’ in statements to the press in the mixed zone .
