Daniel Alves is sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison with a compensation order

Initially, the sentence was scheduled to be read in mid-March, but the sentence was brought forward two weeks after the trial. Daniel, who has been in pre-trial detention since January last year, will remain in prison, according to information from G1. Furthermore, the player must spend nine years away from the victim.

The former Brazilian athlete was also ordered to pay compensation to the woman, in the amount of approximately 150 thousand euros, approximately R$804 thousand. Furthermore, Daniel will be responsible for covering the costs of the process. After serving his sentence, he will have supervised release for five years. The former player’s defense still has the possibility of appealing the decision.

It is worth mentioning that Daniel was summoned to appear in court on Wednesday, 21st. The prediction was that he could face up to 12 years in prison, the maximum sentence provided. During the process, the defense asked for acquittal or a sentence with mitigating factors, such as alcohol intoxication, and proposed repairing the damage with the payment of compensation.
