Neymar Jr’s father can pay Daniel Alves’ bail, says newspaper

The soccer player Daniel Alves received court authorization to pay bail to be released from prison. According to the Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, the amount can be paid by Neymar Santoswho is the father of Neymar Jr.

The newspaper said that bail was set at 1 million euros, which is the equivalent of R$5.4 million. The deadline to pay the amount expired in the early afternoon of this Wednesday, 20th, but the details of the payment were not publicly revealed.

The bail will grant Daniel Alves provisional freedom. Outside prison, he is prohibited from approaching the victim, including the workplace or any other place she frequents. Furthermore, his Brazilian and Spanish passports are withheld, which means he will not be able to leave the European country.

According to the G1 website, Neymar’s family press office did not comment on the matter.

It is worth remembering that this is the second time that Neymar’s father has helped Daniel Alves financially. At the beginning of the trial, he allegedly gave the athlete 150,000 euros to pay compensation to the victim as a mitigating factor in his case.

Daniel, who has been in pre-trial detention since January last year, will remain in prison, according to information from G1. Furthermore, the player must spend nine years away from the victim.

The former Brazilian athlete was also ordered to pay compensation to the woman, in the amount of approximately 150 thousand euros, approximately R$804 thousand. Furthermore, Daniel will be responsible for covering the costs of the process. After serving his sentence, he will have supervised release for five years. The former player’s defense still has the possibility of appealing the decision.
