Cufré, Osorio and Florentín will continue to be detained in Tucumán after reports of sexual abuse: the judge rejected their request for parole

In Tucumán, the appeal hearing requested by Abiel Osorio, José Florentín Bobadilla and Braian Cufréthe three footballers of Velez accused of sexual abuse against a 24-year-old girl, a measure that led to her being placed under house arrest. The day took place in a closed-door debate, in which the parties involved and their legal representatives fought for a favorable decision, which ultimately did not materialize.

During the hearing, defense professionals questioned Judge Gómez Moreira’s motives, arguing that alleged inconsistencies in the victim’s testimony had not been taken into consideration. In the debate, which lasted almost four hours, Prosecutor Eugenia María Posse vigorously rejected the defenders’ request so that the players continue the trial in freedom. Before this intervention, the defenders explained for more than an hour the reasons why their clients should have been released.

Subsequently it was the turn of the victim, who firmly opposed the release of the accused. The young woman would have considered it unfair that Cufré, Osorio and Bobadilla could remain in their homes, perhaps enjoying comforts while they were tied to the trial. Furthermore, you expressed your fear about the possibility of meeting the accused, despite the restrictions of house arrest.

The prisoners’ defenders had asked for the trial to continue in freedom, suggesting that the players remain in Buenos Aires to avoid any contact with the victim. However, Judge Casas’ decision confirmed that the Vélez athletes will remain under house arrest.

And Sosa?

After four days of intense waiting, Goalkeeper Sebastián Sosa is still awaiting release in the context of the sexual abuse case of which he is accused. Judge Eliana Gómez Moreira ordered his release, on a condition that sparked controversy: a bail of 50 million dollars.

The court’s decision states that Sosa will have to pay this large sum to leave the cell he has occupied for the last week in the former Investigative Brigade. The bond can be guaranteed with different types of assets, from properties to legally registered vehicles and boats. To speed up the procedures, lawyer Baaclini offered a sum of 50,000 dollars.

However, the magistrate asked the defender to demonstrate the origin of the funds offered. Furthermore, he consulted the parties involved in the process. Prosecutor Posse reportedly did not file any objections, while plaintiffs Juan Andrés Robles and Patricia Neme expressed their rejection of the proposal. Faced with this situation, Baaclini presented a new brief to the magistrate, urging him to resolve the situation as soon as possible. Uncertainty remains pending the final decision.
