Mistakes are common. They are, precisely, what makes us human. The problem is that they always appear at the most inconvenient time. This time it was the French diver who remained at center stage due to an unfortunate situation Alexis Jandardwho played a role at the opening event of the Aquatic Complex which will be used in the future Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With dozens of cameras pointed at him and with President Emmanuel Macron in the front row, Jandard he had the misfortune of slipping as he was about to dive into the pool. He hit his back on the trampoline and fell in such a spectacular way that the scene seemed like something out of a gag movie.

Clearly luck was not on his side. The athlete, for the peace of mind of locals and foreigners, did not suffer any physical injuries. However, pride has been hit hard. Once the event was over, as his fall went viral on social media, Jandard gave his perspective on the disaster he had just experienced. He made an Instagram story about it to make sure he wasn’t hurt. “Thank you all for the support. For your information, my back is fine, but my ego… It was the worst time for something like that to happen to me, but I take it as a joke,” commented the 26-year-old Frenchman.

In one post, showing what her back looked like after the shot, Alexis commented: “I slipped, boss“Yes, he took it with humor and even dared to wink Macron, live witness to the error. These things are not expected to happen in public to a high-level Olympic athlete. And even less in front of your President.

In the videos circulating on social media you can see that after making the first jump in preparation, his foot bends a little, causing him to lose balance and slip, turning his back against the board. Falling into the water was the funniest thing. He was left kicking in the air as he fell meters into the water. This is even more noticeable given that the other two divers who were next to him, Gwendal Bisch AND Jules Bouyer, They performed the jump with ease and grace, while Jandard fell awkwardly into the water.

What happened was just stupid. I reached my footing and my leg gave out,” the diver said in an interview with RMC. “Also, the table was new, beautiful and I think I still have the board on my back.. Small risks. Plus it was live so obviously that’s how it ended. It’s a shame, but it’s fun. When you take a step back, it’s fun.”

Humor is the only remedy in these situations and Alexis can’t stop laughing at it. “It had to happen in front of Mr. President and in front of all of France. We choose the right moment, I think“he joked.

I continued the show with a bloody back. But I had the Sports Minister call me on my personal phone to ask me how things were going because she was worried too,” said Jandard, who assures that he is in perfect physical condition beyond the bruises that will last a few days on his Back . .

Both he and the other two divers who accompanied him to the ceremony will participate in the Olympic Games which begin on July 26 in the French capital. His fall should not be misleading, since Jandard won two consecutive gold medals at the World Aquatics Championships in 2022 and 2023. This year he is preparing to stand on the Olympic podium for the first time in his career. Provided, of course, that you don’t slip before making the jump.
