2023 was the year of the iPhone. For the first time in 13 years, Apple managed to overtake Samsung and become the brand that sold the most smartphones worldwide throughout the year. But when it seemed that the new generation of iPhone15 wanted to maintain this leadership, the Korean technology company has returned to the fray with its brand new Galaxy S24 flagship.

According to data from the news site The Korean Business DailySamsung recently managed to regain the top line in the global mobile device shipments segment in February, thus surpassing Apple for the first time in five months.

Manzanafor its part, it fell to second place in the world rankings, with 17.41 million iPhone units sold and to Share of 18%..

Samsung’s good results also extend to regions such as Europe and the United States. In the old continent Samsung reaches a share of 34%; while in North America the improvement was even greater, with a 16 percentage point increase in sales share to 36%.

Analysts believe that the good results obtained by the Galaxy S24 series have a lot to do with the growth that the company has recorded throughout the month of February.

In total, 6.53 million units of the new series flagships from Samsung throughout the month, and more than half of the smartphones sold in the United States in February were from the Galaxy S24 series.

Among the top five smartphone brands, Xiaomi was the one that grew the most23% year-over-year, to 40.7 million units in Q4 2023.

Chinese brand HONOR, which is not officially present in Argentina, recorded double-digit growth of 27% year-on-year, according to data from Counterpoint. In the meantime, Huawei grew by triple digitsbeing the only smartphone in the top 10 to do so.

They claim that the new AI-based features that the company has included in this family of devices have been a great incentive for consumers, and many have decided to opt for a Galaxy S24 Ultra, a Galaxy S24+ or a Galaxy S24 instead of an iPhone to be able to enjoy these advances.

There is still almost six months to go until the new generation of iPhone arrives, a period which the South Korean company could use to further enhance its new flagship smartphones through discounts and promotional campaigns in various markets.

If we add to this the sales that the new Galaxy A series models could achieve, Samsung seems to have an excellent opportunity to establish itself at the top of the smartphone market.

On the other hand, rumors about the future of the iPhone 16 place it as part of the project a major leap compared to the iPhone 15 familymaintaining some features that will mark a clear line between the Pro and basic models.

It is speculated that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro will come with a new tactile button for the camera and video recording. This button would be located at the bottom right of the devices and would turn iPhones into professional tools.
