Despite 48 saves by goaltender Connor Ingram, the Nashville Predators fell 2-1 in overtime to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday, taking a 2-0 series lead.

Cale Makar scored the game-winning goal 8:31 in overtime when he punched a loose puck in the slot. The top scorer shot at defenders this season has made its way through Ingram, who has been flawless so far.

Ingram, who was selected over David Rittich to make up for the absence of starting goaltender Juuse Saros, started his first playoff game.

He played nearly 45 minutes into the first game, however, after Rittich was relieved of his duties after allowing five goals. Ingram allowed two goals in 32 relief shots in that game.

At the end of the first period, Yakov Trenin leveled the score with a wrist shot from the near edge.

The Avalanche thought they had scored midway through the period, but Valeri Nichushkin’s goal was canceled when Artturi Lehkonen contacted Ingram.

Darcy Kuemper was less busy than his counterpart and blocked 25 shots for the Avalanche.
