Oettinger, 23, got his first playoff shutout in his second start.

Jacob Markstrom stopped 21 of 22 shots in the direction of the Flames.

After zeroing in on goal in the opener, Pavelski scored the Stars ’first goal in the series in a turnover in the Flames’ defensive zone.

Defender Noah Hanifin’s pass was blocked by Jason Robertson before the blue line. Pavelski, known for his deflections, quickly redirected Robertson’s shot over Markstrom’s mitt.

Johnny Gaudreau hit the target with a breakaway 43 seconds in the first period, but the net was ruled out due to offside.

The two teams will meet in Dallas on Saturday for Game 3 of the series.
