The 25-year-old was injured in a fight in January. The operation was performed in New York by Dr. Robert Hotchkiss, who also operated on Sidney Crosby on his left wrist in September.

According to the Canadian, Samuel Montembeault must be fully recovered for the start of the next training camp.

However, the future of the goalkeeper in Montreal has not yet been confirmed. He will be able to be a restricted free agent in the summer.

At the end of this season, the athlete from Bécancour made no secret that he wanted to continue his career with the Canadiens.

The team got him from the Florida Panthers on waivers on Oct. 2. He played 38 of his 63 games in the National Hockey League with the Habs.

He signed his first win with the Canadiens on Nov. 20 at the Bell Center when the team faced the Nashville Predators.
