Diego Schwartzman faced the American Marcos Giron for the second round of the Rome Masters 1000, a battle played por ESPN from 8:30 am
The Argentine tennis player conceded this round after a long-suffering victory over Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic, who came behind by two match points and beat him 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.

“Little” Schwartzman, ranked 15th in the ATP world rankings, used two hours and 45 minutes to beat Kecmanovic (31) in a match he was close to beating when the Serb took a 5-4 lead in third set and had two balls to snatch the win.
The 29-year-old Argentine and finalist in Rome in the 2020 edition (he lost to Serbian Novak Djokovic), won at that moment when he was on the brink of defeat and won by seven consecutive points to lead 6-5, although in achieving the tie break the victory.
It was “Peque’s” third victory against the Serb coached by David Nalbandian from Cordoba, after its predecessors at Roland Garros 2020 and the 2021 Argentina Open when he beat it in the semifinals and then won the title.
Schwartzman will play his next match against American Marcos Girón (59), who eliminated Kazakh Alexander Bublik (41) yesterday after beating him 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
The Masters 1000 in Rome was played on a clay surface, distributed prizes of 6,008,725 euros and had three Argentine champions throughout its history: Guillermo Vilas in 1980, José Luis Clerc in 1981 and Alberto Mancini in 1989.
