Argentine coaches Eduardo Coudet, who works for Celta de Vigo in Spain, and Gustavo Quinteros, from Colo Colo, are among the technical candidates to direct the Chilean soccer team, according to the trans-Andean press.

And these alternatives have been fixed while Chile has high expectations to know what will happen to the claim filed with FIFA against Ecuador for the inclusion of soccer player Byron Castillo in the Qualifiers ten games. This morning, the Swiss-based entity opened a file to investigate the case, which was seen as optimistic in the trans-Andes country. Should the team led by Gustavo Alfaro receive a point deduction sanction, Chile will access the playoffs against an Asian team and Peru will secure its place in Qatar 2022.

But returning to the topic related to the coach, it is Englishman Francis Cagigao, Sports Director of the Chilean Football Federation, who wants Coudet in the position but the Argentine has a contractual relationship until 2024 and no money to oversee the termination and the contract.

Coudet’s team came from defeat to Barcelona as a guest and are in 11th place in the standings, with no chance of qualifying for international cups but with regularity that caused it to reach the goal without suffering in stay in LaLiga.

Given the difficulty indicated by a negotiation for Coudet, in Chile they are betting on Argentine Quinteros, who appears as a real option to lead the qualifying process for the World Cup in Mexico, the United States and Canada in 2026.

Although Quinteros will not be Cagigao’s favorite, the acquisition will depend on their talks with DT, who are unwilling to leave Colo Colo in the middle of the local tournament, where he is the leader, and in the Copa Libertadores, if where he has chances to qualify for the round of 16.

In the Chilean federation they will even accept that Quinteros will be the coach of Colo Colo and Chile at the same time, especially since from June 10 they will play in the Kirin Cup in Japan, along with the local team, Tunisia and Ghana.
