The most important athletics event in 2022 is the Eugene World Championship, United States, which will take place from July 15 to 24. But this is not the only opportunity to enjoy the talented talents of this sport in action. Duplantis was undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Doha meeting. The 22-year-old Swede, the owner of the best outdoor jump of all time (6.15 meters in Rome in September 2020), has already made history by 2022. On March 7, in Belgrade, he broke the internal world record of 6.19 meters, only to improve that mark two weeks later, at the same stage, during Indoor World Championship. There, he jumped 6.20 and climbed to the top of the podium.

But world want more. And in the land of Qatar he will try to start on the right foot the defense of the “diamond” title, which he won in 2021, and start the heat for the ecumenical meeting in Eugene, where he will go for the only important crown that he is not yet in their showcases.

De Grasse will be the favorite in a very difficult 200 -meter test. The Canadian, who in Tokyo was gold in that distance with 19.62 seconds, bronze in the 100 meters and silver in the 4×100 relay, will face the Americans. The other golden athletes from Tokyo who will claim to be in Doha Shaunae Miller-Uibo, from the Bahamas, champion in the 400 meters; the Kenyan Faith Kipyegon, won the 1,500 meters in the Japanese capital and the 2021 Diamond League at that distance, but who will compete this Friday in the 3,000; and the American Rai Benjamin |Olympic champion with a 4×400 relay in his country and silver in the 400 with obstacles, a test in which he will compete in Qatar.

The Diamond League, which held its first edition in 2010, will consist of twelve qualifying events, where track and field events will take place on the same day.
