Chris Ernst and Mathias Guillemette advanced the individual pursuit

It wasn’t enough to qualify, but the performances of young cyclists on the track Chris Ernst and Mathias Guillemette were invigorating to the individual pursuit.

Ernst, 22, and Guillemette, just 20, finished 8th and 10th respectively in the Milton Nations Cup qualifying session on Saturday, ending their work day.

But two runners achieved their best individual performance: 4: 17.712 for Ontarian Ernst; 4: 19.690 for Trifluvien Guillemette.

Australian James Moriarty recorded the fourth and final time to qualify for the medal round, clocking 4: 13.932.

Dodyk switched to keirin

In other competitions shown in the morning, Albertan Ryan Dodyk won his qualifying round in keirin to directly advance to the elimination round in the evening.

Ontario course James Hedgcock, however, stopped repechage.

In the 500m time trial, Canadians Sarah Orban and Jackie Boyle missed less than half a second in qualifying. Orban and Boyle finished the session in 14th and 15th place respectively. Only the first six positions earned their qualification.
