Djordje Mihailovic, with his sixth of the season, before stoppage time in the first half, and Alistair Johnston, in the second period, scored goals for CF Montreal (6-3-2).

Goalkeeper Sebastian Breza blocked all four goal shots for Charlotte FC (4-7-1) and took his first shutout of the season.

However, CF Montreal ended the match without Romell Quioto, who injured his right shoulder which provided an assist for Mihailovic’s goal.

After a few minutes on the ground, Quioto finally got up, but he immediately left the field. After Johnston’s goal, he was seen on the side, a big smile on his face, but also his right arm in a sling.

CF Montreal will play its next game on Wednesday in Nashville.

Slow start of the game

Between guests who have not been defeated in two months and hosts who have not been defeated in front of their supporters since the beginning of March, we were initiated into the meeting based on caution on both sides.

The game started briskly after half an hour and both teams had a great chance to score the first goal of the match.

CF Montreal took advantage of the best of all in the 45th minute of play.

Left alone in the middle of the area, Mihailovic deflected his right foot, behind Kristijan Kahlina, a nice back pass from Quioto as the latter fell hard to the ground after contacting defender Guzman Corujo.

Kei Kamara, Quioto’s replacement, got an assist in Johnston’s 67th-minute goal, shortly after Charlotte FC threatened the Montreal fort.

A sign of maturity that seemed to have taken off, the Montreal team seemed to have control of the situation over the next 25 minutes and they were able to protect their lead and this victory.
