The Elks and Stampeders could legally strike starting Thursday

Players from the Edmonton Elks and Calgary Stampeders will be in legal strike position beginning Thursday afternoon.

In a post TwitterOn Wednesday, the Canadian Football League (CFL) clarified the legal situation of Alberta teams, indicating that players from both teams are in a position to legally call a strike at 2:25 pm Eastern Time on Thursday.

The players of elks at stampers they just started their training camp on Sunday, after the suspension of negotiations for the renewal of the collective agreement on Saturday night.

Players of the other seven teams in the Canadian Football League went on strike from 12:01 am Sunday and did not show up for training.

Neither is CFL neither of its players ’associations have formally announced the resumption of negotiations, but sources within the league say the two sides resumed informal talks this week.

The preparation schedule for CFL will start on Monday night with a duel between Blue Bombers of Winnipeg and the Roughriders from Saskatchewan to Regina.

The league has not yet announced its plans for that game, but it is unlikely to happen because training for the two teams has not yet begun.
