The vacant spaces resulting from this change in the city resulted in the creation of two squares named in one act after two of the most important female artists at the beginning of the last century: Alfonsina Storni and the sculptor Lola Mora.

The square is, then, unique, like the poet it pays homage to; in this case, because it is the first Buenos Aires square with a woman’s name.

Since then, that space has become a reference in Buenos Aires more dedicated to the writer, living in the Flores neighborhood, on Terrada street, and in an emblematic building in Buenos Aires located between Esmeralda streets and Córdoba.

Storni (1892-1938) is positioned as the first great Argentine poet and writer to be clearly identified with feminism Y his tragic death in the late 1930s in Mar del Plata placed it in a position of generality. Now when they meet 130 years since the writer was born (On May 29) the renovation of the recreation area of ​​the square bearing his name was presented as a new one. Furthermore a mural was inaugurated in the Constitución neighborhood.

The reform of the square marked a before and after for this busy area located between the streets of Solís, San Juan Avenue and Virrey Ceballos, under the 25 de Mayo highway, in Commune 1.

Under the theme “Alfonsina and the sea “, In the area for the little ones, the playground has been completely renovated -replaced the old ones- crowned by a mangrullo -shaped boat. In a new rubber floor with waves, which re -creates a great rainbow, other playful elements are also found.

Surrounded by educational centers, the space invites students who often go to the plaza to have fun on the playground, where the letters of the alphabet are painted inside the circuit of the hills respond to themes related to literature and writing.

In turn, the brick wall that limits the space was painted by Pinta Argentina. In pastel shades of light blue and blue and with a pop art style, the mural presents a continuous wave design that defines the seacovering a hundred meters of wall.
