After beating the Tigers 3-0 in the La Liga Cup final, played this Sunday in Córdoba, Boca Juniors became champions. And in the new title, the classic scene of Argentina’s festivities is repeated: fans take over the Obelisk.
Despite the fact that the meeting took place a few kilometers from the City of Buenos Aires, fans who saw it on television occupied the emblematic Plaza de la República and blocked traffic on 9 de Julio Avenue.
Around 6:30 pm, a few minutes after the match, many fans of Xeneize They started to get around the Buenos Aires monument, with all the colors for the celebrations. The area visible in the drone photos broadcast by news channels was painted blue and yellow.

Although at first the call was modest, a few minutes later people flocked to celebrate the flags, drums and songs of the new dedication. Some even carry flares. And the blue and gold tide began to spread towards the Metrobus stations, on the avenue.
Half an hour later, supporters were already occupying the side streets, blocking the roadway in the area.
City Police personnel also arrived to guard the festivities and to prevent possible incidents as happened on more than one occasion in the overflow of festivities in the downtown area.

The celebrations, which spread from Córdoba, were not only held at the Obelisk. Many of the fans chose The Bombonerain La Boca, as the center of the festival.
Another large group of fans came around the Boquense stadium with shirts to celebrate the victory against the Tigers, which gave them the new championship.

On social networks, where fanatical Boca users followed the game every minute and commented on it, jokes began about the emblematic McDonald’s located on one of the corners of Corrientes Avenue and 9 de Julio.
They refer to those times when the club became the champion of other tournaments and cups and its fans, to celebrate, even climbed to the roof of the venue to cover it with blue and gold.
How Boca is on the tables of soccer titles in Argentina
Boca is the club of Argentina which earned more official titles: In December, they won the Argentine Cup and now they have added the Professional League Cup, in hopes of starting a new League tournament.
In this new conquest, Boca added 72 titles to its history, 16 for the national cup. In addition, he has 34 from the League, 4 from the AFA-AUF and 18 from Conmebol.
In this way, in the particular dispute between the two best in Argentine football, Boca returned to take three titles ahead of the River. And he broke a tie: he got one -16 to 15- in the national cups.
