Sweden took control early and took a 3-0 lead midway through the second period, following goals by Carl Klingberg, William Nylander and Max Friberg.

Ryan Graves, however, set the tone for Canada’s return by finding behind the net at 1:21 of the third period.

Pierre-Luc Dubois and Matt Barzal, who are celebrating his 25th birthday, tied the game after beating goaltender Linus Ullmark by 30 seconds.

Nylander got the tripping penalty 25 seconds into the extra period, and Canada quickly took advantage. Batherson fired from a tight angle, from under the face-off circle, to beat Ullmark.

Barzal and Dubois each had one assist in the winning net.

Chris Driedger stopped 16 shots in front of the Canadian net, while Ullmark made 38 saves in the loss.

Canada will face the winner of the match between Switzerland and the United States on Saturday. Medals will be awarded on Sunday.
