A month after announcing he was stepping down, Marcelo Tinelli resigned from San Lorenzo and is no longer the president of the Boedo entity. The driver announced that he was running from Cyclone’s institutional life at the end of April through a letter he published on his social networks and that he later decided to remove. However, he has only now made his departure official, hours after the term that gave him the club’s license for the previous year expired.

Now, with Tinelli’s official departure, San Lorenzo has formally published the new composition of the board of directors of which Miguel Arreceygor is president. The next step is to accept MT’s resignation, although this will only be a formality since the organization’s new chart was established more than two weeks ago.

The ShowMatch driver cycle ended in December 2023, but his continued absence from the club, which has added to sporting frustrations in recent seasons and the club’s financial problems, has forced him to leave. After his announcement in April, Matías Lammens confirmed that the elections would be held.

“Marcelo’s resignation puts us in a situation that once again requires everyone’s commitment,” Lammens wrote at the time: “I know many are angry at the moment and I understand them; they are right.” In another excerpt of the letter to San Lorenzo’s “partners, partners and fans”, the current Minister of Tourism of the Country left a self-criticism: “POf course there are mistakes too and I accept; but always, always, I made decisions with my heart in my hands”, Wrote Lammens who also stepped aside.

Now, the new president Horacio Arreceygor must summon the opposition to establish the schedule for the next election. A provisional date will be December of this year. But first, he must assemble the team so that Rubén Darío Insua can face the next tournament of the Argentine Professional Soccer League.
