Last March, the striker signed his National League entry contract with CH, but it won’t take effect until next season.

The fifth-round pick (150th overall) in the 2021 draft has been on vacation since Monday. His team, Sherbrooke Phoenix, was eliminated from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs by the Charlottetown Islanders.

Last season, Roy had 119 points, including 51 goals, in 66 games. He finished 1st in QMJHL scoring and 4th in goalscoring.

In 161 games on the Courteau circuit, he scored 89 goals and 109 assists.

Separately, Rocket announced that Mattias Norlinder will not be returning for the series against the Thunderbirds. The defenseman is still disgusted after hitting Ben Holmstrom in the head in Game 1 of the previous series against the Rochester Americans.

Rocket will visit the Thunderbirds on Saturday. The second match will be played 24 hours later.

The series will move to Laval for the next three games, June 8, 10 and 11. If necessary, games 6 and 7 will be played on June 13 and 15, in Springfield.
