A stage of the Snowboard Cross World Cup will be shown at the Mont-Sainte-Anne ski resort on February 4 and 5, 2023, ski resort and Canadian Snowboard leaders announced.
This competition will include individual and group components. More than 80 international athletes are expected on the slopes of Quebec in February.
Among the local favorites who will usually participate in this stage of the Snowboard Cross World Cup is Éliot Grondin, a rising star in the discipline who won silver and bronze medals at the Beijing Olympics last winter.
Having the opportunity to participate in a competition in my part of the country is really cool, Grondin says. I will be lucky to be with all my family and all my friends!
This is not the first time Quebec will host a major snowboarding event. The Snowboard World Championships, which include snowboard cross competitions, were held in Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury in 2013.
