Gustavo Alfaro spoke at a press conference shortly after FIFA came out in relation to a claim by Chile that questioned Ecuador’s participation in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The parent company of world football has rejected the presentation initiated by the trans-Andean country in relation to the inclusion of the player Byron Castillo and confirmed those led by Alfaro at the appointment scheduled for the month of November, in the Middle East.

“Sporting justice has been done, we have always known how to be on the right side”, the president of the Ecuadorian Football Association quickly expressed, once FIFA announced his decision.

And in those minutes of relief and satisfaction, the one who attended a conference in Quito was Alfaro himself, who, true to his style, expressed himself calmly and focused on the suffering that Castillo had to endure.

It is worth remembering in the story a situation that the defender has experienced in recent weeks, when he was playing for his club he committed a penalty and then asked for the change in tears, totally overwhelmed.

“We have always had the serenity, we have never lost it, beyond the fact that many things have been moved by the media …”, underlined the former coach of Boca, Huracán and San Lorenzo, among other teams .

And then he talked about his player: “My only concern was Byron Castillo, for the things he suffered humanly, which were absolutely unfair, but up to a pronouncement he could be put aside.”

“There has never been a day, a morning or a training session where we didn’t think what we won on the pitch would stay in that place,” said the Professor, as they call him in Ecuador, a country that vibrates in the background of a World Cup that will see him cheer for a Group A that is completed by the teams of Qatar, Holland and Senegal.

“Sometimes I say that it is not enough to put the chest, sometimes you have to put the stomach, because there are things that make the stomach spin and that was one of those things, “the DT continued.

And then he commented that for him this definition of FIFA is not a reason for celebration since for him there has never been any doubt about Ecuador’s presence in Qatar 2022.

“As I told the boys, we have nothing to celebrate, we have already celebrated after the match with Paraguay, when we qualified for the World Cup”, concluded Alfaro.
