Public health has identified 720 new cases of coronavirus, for a total of 1,072,334 people infected since the pandemic began.

For Thursday, 226 rapid tests were self -reported, including 184 positive. The Ministry of Health, however, recalled that the number of cases listed did not represent the situation, as access to screening centers was limited to priority clients.

In Montreal, the virus concentration is also rising sharply, which may indicate an increase in contamination. After recording a gradual decline in May, the positivity rate was more than 7% for a week in the metropolis.

A total of 4,190 health care workers had to be absent Thursday across the province for COVID-19-related reasons (preventive withdrawal, separation, awaiting results, etc.).

Regarding vaccination, 5,493 doses have been given in the last 24 hours in Quebec, out of a total of 19,962,064 since the pandemic began.

The Quebec government announced on Wednesday an end to the mandatory wearing of masks on public transport on June 18.
