Football was once said to consist of only twenty-two players running after a ball. But, of course, there are stories that reach to the depths of the heart and destroy that subject.

This is the case with Rafael, an 88-year-old grandfather, a Huracán fan, which merged with love with the Globe more than eight decades ago. After a long time, it is his passion that keeps him active day after day, without letting his guard down.

It’s that Rafa suffers from advanced Alzheimer’s and the only thing he remembers, with freshness and clarity, is when and against whom his beloved club plays. There is one thing that cannot be changed, as a film states: passion. His niece told the story on social media and it moved everyone.

My grandfather is super lost, very advanced with Alzheimer’sCamila Brocca, a journalism student, began commenting on Twitter, adding: “Sometimes she doesn’t know who I am, she doesn’t know what day it is or says she went to a party.”

“I just told him to get up, that he was playing Hurricane and he said ‘No! Play tomorrow against Defense and Justice. I love you Hurricane,” concluded the publication, which was quickly filled with interactions.

Some users joined by commenting on personal stories on the net: “My grandfather also had Alzheimer’s, he didn’t recognize us but he sang the whole hurricane march,” wrote one follower.

Another Internet user commented excitedly: “Come on grandpa! You reminded me when I went to listen to games with my great-uncle who could no longer walk, and in those two hours he forgot everything and lived the game as if it were. in the Duchy “.

Others went to ask for more and asked to see Rafa encouraging from the stands: “I hope you can take him out on the pitch. In many cases, in this football period it seems that nothing is forgotten and it is nice to share it.” user.

It appears that someone from the hurricane heard this statement and, as if it was planned, the club management invited them both to see the next one match against Atlético Tucumán: “Cami! Your story and that of your grandfather moved us a lot and we want to invite you, Rafa and your family so that you can come to the Ducó Palace this Sunday to see the Globe and celebrate the Pope” .

“I can’t believe it! I’ll tell him,” wrote Camila, in a message accompanied by heart emoticons.

Who is Raffaele

The love affair between Rafael and Huracán goes back a long time. He was born in La Pampa and arrived in Buenos Aires at the age of five, a city less tumultuous and agitated at the time than it is today.

His new home was a guesthouse four blocks from the Tomás Adolfo Ducó stadium. Living so close, it was almost obvious that the young man Rafa he would become a fanatical fan of the Parque Patricios club. With the passing years the passion grew and never abandoned it. Much less when his health has deteriorated.

Recently Rafa he was left a widower and his relationship with his niece grew thanks to football. The first match they went to see together was Huracán against Gimnasia y Esgrima, as Cami is a fan of the La Plata team.

“Since your happiness is mine, I love you infinitely. Thank you for making me such a football fan, for every game you win or lose. By your side I will always be happy, ”wrote Camila in a publication in which she gives the hurricane shirt to her grandfather. Rafa and the hurricane is proof that football is much more than twenty-two players running after a ball on the green grass. And Camila proved it.
